Aging-with-a-Disability

This is the final report for the focus group phase of the Aging with a Disability project. We share the participants’ experiences and stories throughout the report to make clear the need for substantive changes to policies and programs around disability and aging in Ontario. We describe the barriers people with disabilities face as they age and highlight recommendations for improved supports and services for aging with a disability. Data for the project was collected through surveys conducted in Phase 1 of the project and through focus groups completed in Phase 2. Three-hundred and thirty-two individuals with disabilities participated in the Consumer Survey.

Coordinated-Attendant-Service-Action-Strategy

The Toronto Central Local Health Integration Network (TC-LHIN) funded the Centre for Independent Living in Toronto (CILT) to coordinate a multi-faceted project to determine the following: 1) Determine the current state by collecting and analyzing PIC (now known as ASAC) waitlist statistics. 2) Establish a best practice model and propose recommendations for a central coordinated access hub, aligning with the TC-LHIN strategic vision and the new Health Links vision and strategies. 3) Conduct a scoping review of relevant materials to propose a strategy for attendant outreach and supportive housing that includes consideration of the potential impact on aging and disability degeneration of consumers and HSPs.
